West Ham set to offer Tomas Soucek ‘new and improved’ contract ahead of summer window

A report from England on Tuesday suggests that West Ham are looking to tie Tomas Soucek down to fresh terms

Soucek impressing with West Ham

Tomas Soucek of course joined West Ham on a permanent basis from Slavia Prague over the summer, after an impressive six-month loan stint with the Hammers.

Soucek has since gone on to become one of the Hammers’ standout stars, as they push towards a European berth for next season.

Despite playing in a deep midfield role throughout much of his stint in London, Soucek has managed to chip in with eight goals in 27 Premier League outings this term.

Such an impressive start to life in England has seemingly attracted interest from one of the Premier League’s heavyweights, with it claimed last month that Manchester United were keeping tabs on him.

Soucek set for new West Ham deal?

Now, though, despite only signing permanently with the London-based club in the summer, West Ham appear to be already looking to tie Soucek down to a new deal.

According to a report from Football Insider on Tuesday, West Ham are set to offer Soucek a new and improved contract ahead of the summer window.

The 26-year-old’s current deal runs until 2024, with FI claiming he only currently earns between £40,000-£50,000-a-week.

However, Soucek is set to be offered a significant pay rise and extension to his current deal.

Elsewhere on the West Ham front, David Moyes has been heaping praise on Declan Rice, claiming the midfielder is worth ‘far more’ than £100m:

“I don’t agree with the owners that Declan Rice is a £100m footballer. Far, far more than £100m. Far, far more.

“I look at the players who have joined some clubs from overseas and come in and nowhere near had the impact Declan Rice would have.

“I certainly wouldn’t put a price on it. You can decide which figure you want to put on it but I wouldn’t be sanctioning anything like that, that’s for sure.”
