West Ham reportedly knocked back in opening bid for Josh King

The latest word stemming from the English media on Sunday suggests that West Ham United have seen a move for Josh King rejected by Bournemouth.

Irons rebuffed

Speculation surrounding West Ham’s hunt for attacking reinforcements has ramped up in a major way of late.

Despite the Hammers having found the net 7 times across their last two Premier League outings alone, David Moyes is evidently of the opinion that his squad is in need of one final creative piece.

In turn, a host of players have been tipped as potential arrivals at the London Stadium, though moves for the likes of Hans Vanaken, Marcos Paulo and Alfredo Morelos all failed to bear fruit.

As such, with the European transfer window having now closed for Premier League clubs, West Ham have been forced to turn their attentions to the Championship.

As outlined above, however, their latest attempt to lure one of the division’s star attackers to the capital has now also come up short.

As per a report from the Guardian, the Irons have seen an offer of around £13 million rejected by Bournemouth for Josh King, with the Cherries holding out for at least £17 million.

This comes despite the Norwegian himself remaining keen on a return to the Premier League.

Moyes and co., however, are not ready to give up in their pursuit of fresh blood up top just yet.

The Guardian’s report goes on to add that, after being knocked back for King, West Ham are set to imminently ‘intensify’ their efforts to strike a deal for Brentford’s Said Benrahma.

The Algerian wide-man, who stood out as one of the Championship’s star performers last season, is understood to be valued northwards of £25 million.

Significantly, though, it is added that Brentford are open to a sale, making a deal being found before next week’s deadline a real possibility:
