Tottenham’s Mourinho plays down Winks exit talk amid claims Valencia have made offers for midfielder

Winks linked with Tottenham exit

Harry Winks hasn’t had a great 2020/21 so far.

The midfielder was quite a prominent figure in the early weeks of the campaign for Spurs.

However, he has since struggled for any sort of regular football.

Winks has featured quite heavily in the Europa League and has been handed more chances over the hectic winter period.

But it still doesn’t seem as though he is one of Jose Mourinho’s favoured midfield options.

This has led to speculation that Winks could move on in the near future.

Everton have previously been credited with interest in the Englishman whilst reports on Monday claimed La Liga outfit Valencia had made a second offer for the Tottenham man:

Mourinho responds to Winks transfer talk

On Tuesday, though, Jose Mourinho has moved to play down these links.

The north Londoners are set to face Fulham on Wednesday.

And during his pre-Fulham press conference, Mourinho was inevitably drawn on recent transfer speculation surrounding Winks.

The former Chelsea boss was quick to pour cold water on these rumours though, stating:

“(Laughs) What do I have to say to stop with this talk? I said already that he’s going nowhere. When I say he’s going nowhere, what more do you want me to say? He played the last matches. He didn’t play the last one because it was a chance to let players like Gedson get minutes. Tomorrow he’s selected again. If someone’s talking to other clubs I’d say don’t waste your time.”
