A fresh update regarding Tottenham’s pursuit of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has emerged online recently, along with some other names potentially being targeted by the Londoners.
Hojbjerg looking likely to leave Southampton
Whatever happens in the summer, it does seem as though Hojbjerg will be departing Southampton.
The Dane, who joined the Saints from FC Bayern Munich, has been a key figure on the South Coast for several years now.
However, with Hojbjerg having less than a year left to run on his current deal and the midfielder seemingly not keen to sign a new one, Ralph Hasenhuttl stripped him of the Southampton captaincy.
Hojbjerg also saw his game time dramatically decreased, starting in just one of Southampton’s last seven league outings.
At the same time, Hojbjerg has been linked with a number of top sides of late, which isn’t too much of a surprise given his ability and contract situation.
It is the latter of those side who have been most persistently linked with the 24-year-old though with it claimed earlier this month that Spurs were willing to use Kyle Walker-Peters, currently on loan at Southampton, as part of a deal to land the midfielder.
And now, according to Sky Sports News, Tottenham are edging closer to a deal to sign him from Southampton.
Spurs are believed to have offered £15m for the midfielder, which is £10m less than the Saints’ valuation and £4m less than what Everton are understood to have offered.
However, crucially for the Lilywhites, Sky also claim that Hojbjerg wants to join Tottenham.
The allure of Spurs will likely have also been boosted this past weekend when they secured a Europa League spot.

Spurs interested in Jae & Brooks
You would assume qualifying for said competition will have also helped Tottenham out somewhat financially.
And now, the Evening Standard have claimed on Tuesday that Jose Mourinho should be allowed to spend any money he brings in with all of Danny Rose, Kyle Walker-Peters, Juan Foyth and Serge Aurier potentially on the market.
The same report also provided some insight into some more of Tottenham’s potential transfer targets.
As well as confirming Spurs are confident of landing Hojbjerg, the Lilywhites are believed to have enquired about Beijing Guoan’s Kim-min Jae.
The north Londoners are also admires of Bournemouth duo Callum Wilson and David Brooks.
The former of which could, as per a report we previously covered, be available for around £10m now the Cherries are relegated.
