Tottenham confirm Joe Rodon signing with help of Gareth Bale

Spurs have this evening confirmed the deadline day arrival of highly-regarded defender Joe Rodon from Swansea City.

Mourinho’s squad reinforced

Tottenham of course proved one of the busier Premier League clubs on the transfer front this summer.

The usually cautious Daniel Levy and co. threw caution to the wind, to add 5 high-profile additions to Jose Mourinho’s squad.

First up was Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who arrived from Southampton early in August. This was followed by Republic of Ireland international Matt Doherty’s signing from Wolves.

An impressive double deal for Real Madrid pair Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale was then forthcoming last month, before Spurs finally secured long overdue backup for Harry Kane – in the form of Benfica’s Carlos Vinicius.

Swans star secured

Mourinho and co., however, were evidently of the opinion that one final piece remained missing from the club’s squad.

With the international transfer market having slammed shut for Premier League sides last week, though, Spurs were forced to turn their attentions to the Championship.

This, in turn, saw one player in particular pique the interest of the north Londoners – Joe Rodon.

Swansea City stalwart Rodon had long been viewed as one of the Championship’s finest in his position, with most of the opinion that the Welsh international is ready to make the step up to England’s top-tier.

And, as outlined above, he is now set to be handed the opportunity to do exactly that.

In a post across the club’s social media platforms following the passing of the domestic deadline, Spurs confirmed Rodon as their latest addition.

The Welshman, who has put pen to paper on a 4-year deal in the English capital, is reported to have set Tottenham back a fee of around £11 million, rising to £15 million with bonuses.

Fellow countrymen Gareth Bale and Ben Davies, meanwhile, were more than happy to get involved in Rodon’s announcement video:
