The last 24 hours have seen Tottenham heavily linked with a move for Wolves defender, Matt Doherty.
Wolves acquired Doherty’s services all the way back in 2010, luring the full-back from his home country of Ireland.
And after a handful of loan spell whilst at Wolves, Doherty has since gone on to firmly cement himself as an integral member of Nuno Santo’s squad.
Doherty would play a key role in Wolves securing promotion to the Premier League in 2018, notching four goals and five assists in 45 league outings.
And despite the step up in level, the now 28-year-old has continued to impress for the Midlands-based outfit over the last two campaigns.
Doherty’s attacking prowess and link-up play with Adama Traore has been particularly important to Wolves over the last few seasons, with the full-back netting seven and assisting five this past term.

Tottenham eyeing Doherty
With Doherty such an integral member of Wolves’ squad, recent reports that Nuno Santo and co. trying to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles didn’t make an awful lot of sense.
Though versatile, Maitland-Niles is naturally a right-back and you would imagine he would simply be playing second fiddle to Doherty.
And if that were to be the case, why wouldn’t he just say put at Arsenal?

However, as mentioned above reports over the last 24 hours do look to have made that transfer decision a bit clearer.
As first reported by football.london, Tottenham are keen on bringing Wolves’ Matt Doherty to north London this summer.
Sky Sports News have now, on Wednesday, provided a fresh update on the situation.
SSN report that:
Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho is keen to sign Matt Doherty from Wolves
In terms of a potential fee for the defender, Sky claim Doherty could cost around £12m, though it is added no bid has been made yet.
The Telegraph have also stated that Doherty is being eyed by Spurs, whilst Wolves are interested in Valencia right-back, Thierry Correia.
