Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur have this evening confirmed the loan arrival of Carlos Vinicius from Benfica.
25-year-old striker Vinicius has enjoyed a somewhat peculiar last couple of seasons across Europe.
After making the move to Napoli in January of 2018, the Palmeiras youth product was subsequently farmed out on loan to Rio Ave.
Despite impressing en route to 14 goals in 20 appearances for the Portuguese outfit, however, his loan stint was cut short, before Vinicius linked up with Monaco for the 2nd-half of the season.
It was the 2019/20 campaign, whilst on the books of Benfica, however, which saw the gifted attacker finally begin to showcase his abilities on a consistent basis.
All told, across all competitions, Vinicius directly contributed to 37 goals in 46 appearances.

Such impressive production, in turn, inevitably resulted in speculation this summer that the Brazilian had piqued the interest of some of European football’s heavyweights.
The likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool were all named as potential landing spots.
The outfit by far most persistently linked, however, had long been Tottenham.
The Lilywhites have been in desperate need of reinforcements up top for some time now, with Harry Kane the club’s only natural senior centre-forward option.
Vinicius, fresh off the back of a stellar campaign, was therefore identified as the ideal target by Jose Mourinho and co., with Spurs’ swoop having this evening come to fruition.
In a post across the club’s social media platforms a short time ago, the north Londoners confirmed that the South American has put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium:

Spurs, in their official statement, failed to confirm whether or not the club secured an option to purchase Vinicius as part of their agreement with Benfica.
An insight into precisely that, however, was forthcoming last night.
As revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Daniel Levy and co. will indeed have the chance to tie the 25-year-old down on a permanent basis next summer, for a fee of €45 million:
