Timothy Castagne reportedly set to sign five-year deal at Leicester

Recent reports from some highly reliable sources suggest Leicester City are closing in on the signing of Timothy Castagne

Who is Timothy Castagne?

Castagne, 24, made the switch to Atalanta back in 2017, when he departed Belgian outfit Genk for a fee believed to be just shy of £6m.

And Castagne has since gone on to cement himself as an integral member of the Serie A outfit’s backline.

All told, the right-back has notched 96 appearances across all competitions, in which he has scored eight and assisted 10.

Castagne has also proven his versatility during his stint at the Gewiss Stadium – lining out and impressing on both the left and right of a back-five.

The Belgian has just under two years left on his current contract.

However, the full-back’s stint in the Serie A appears to be nearing its conclusion.

Castagne did appear open to a move back in June when he stated he couldn’t turn down a side like PSG or Tottenham if they came calling.

But it appears to be another side who have managed to lure Castagne away from Atalanta.

The outfit in question is Premier League side, Leicester City.

Fabrizio Romano would report late on Monday evening that Leicester are in advanced talks with Atalanta to sign Castagne for a fee of around €25m.

HLN’s Kristof Terreur has since picked up the story on Tuesday morning, stating that the Foxes will pay €24m for Castagne, who will sign a five-year deal.

Kristof did, however, add that it will be a long wait for the official announcement.
