Newcastle’s supporters have taken to social media in numbers this evening, to reveal their collective relegation concerns, on the back of Fulham’s win over Sheffield United.
Lookman makes the difference
The final Premier League fixture of the day took place at Craven Cottage a short time ago.
The clash in question marked a crucial one in the battle against the drop, as Fulham welcomed Sheffield United to the capital.
Both sides headed into proceedings languishing in the relegation zone, albeit with the hosts 8 points clear of their basement-dwelling opponents.
And, when all was said and done, it was Scott Parker’s Cottagers who went on to extend their advantage over both Sheffield United and West Brom, keeping the club’s survival hopes very much alive in the process.
A solitary goal – netted by Ademola Lookman just past the hour mark – eventually proved the difference between the sides in southwest London:
Lookman opens the scoring as Fulham take the lead but what about that pass from Andersen…😍

Their victory this evening represents just the latest in a string of positive recent results for Fulham, who have now fallen to defeat in just one of their last seven Premier League outings.
In turn, the capital outfit, with momentum on their side, have moved to within 3 points of the side in 17th in the English top-flight.
The club in question? Newcastle.
And, as outlined above, if the latest social media activity on the part of the Magpies faithful is anything to go by, then panic mode has now fully settled in at St. James’ Park.
Many appear to have already accepted that their side are destined for the drop, whereas others feel that, if Steve Bruce is moved on with immediate effect, Newcastle could yet stand a chance of preserving their top-flight status:
Fully expected this from Fulham I honestly do think we will be relegated and our form in 2021 shows only 6 points collected by us while Fulham have picked up 14 if Bruce doesn’t get the sack tomorrow if lose to Man U i have no hope #NUFC

Plenty of football to be played but Fulham have real momentum in this relegation fight now. #nufc in big trouble and neglected opportunities to change in the transfer market or dug out. Incredible they’re in this mess – again.

We’re down unless the clown walks/gets sacked. Wilson getting injured ended all hope of Bruce keeping us up. Absolute disgrace. Bruce will go down as most hated manager in NUFC history.

We are going down for sure Fulham have way more fight in them #NUFC

For us to be three points above relegation after 24 games is completely unacceptable given the money allocated to Steve Bruce.
His target was top ten. He’s failing miserably, and he has to go. #nufc

We’re relegated ffs

We are going down. Ashley has to make the change now, get rid of Bruce and bring him home. pic.twitter.com/apnnA4TiG3
