Spurs believe Mourinho can lead ‘best Tottenham squad of modern era’ to trophies this season

Tottenham’s summer transfer window

On paper at least, a case could certainly be made that Tottenham had one of the best windows of any Premier League side.

In total, Spurs were able to bring in a total of five senior players and they are still reportedly eyeing a deal for Swansea’s Joe Rodon.

And to the Lilywhite’s credit, they have largely brought in players in areas they had previously been somewhat weak in.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was the first name through the door, and should provide Spurs with a solid link between defence and attack.

Sergio Reguilon and Matt Doherty also look to be quality additions at full-back, with Tottenham previously lacking both depth and quality on either flank.

Carlos Vinicius, who netted 24 and assisted 13 across 47 outings last term, should also prove to be a solid back-up option/partner for Harry Kane.

And finally, though he is yet to get up to full fitness, the addition of Gareth Bale should no doubt give Spurs a big boost as they look to challenge in four competitions this term.

Tottenham eyeing trophies

So far, Spurs have made it into the League Cup quarter-finals and have booked their spot in the Europa League groups.

The north Londoners are also currently just two points off the top-four.

Such a solid start, combined with a great summer transfer window, has seemingly filled the Tottenham camp with optimism.

As per football.london’s Alasdair Gold, there is a real buzz and excitement at Spurs that they have now assembled ‘the best Tottenham squad of the modern era’. There is also a belief that Jose Mourinho can lead Spurs to trophies this season:
