Solskjaer provides Marcus Rashford update following Man City

Man United see off Man City

Manchester United returned to winning ways on Sunday evening with a huge victory over bitter rivals, Manchester City.

The Red Devils headed into the meeting at the Etihad on a fairly poor run, which had seen them fail to score a single goal in their last three outings.

So, when facing a Man City side who had notched 21 wins in a row before Sunday, a United victory did seem very unlikely.

But when all was said and done in Manchester, it was actually Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. who came away with the points.

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring less than two minutes in, converting a penalty after Anthony Martial had been brought down in the box.

Luke Shaw then added United’s second of the day shortly after the break, ensuring United picked up a huge three points.

Marcus Rashford update

An otherwise positive evening for United was dampened somewhat when Marcus Rashford was forced off during the second 45:

So, United fans were no doubt waiting patiently for an update on one of their key men to learn the extent of the injury.

When speaking post-match, though, Solskjaer was unable to give a timeframe on the injury.

Instead, the Norwegian stated he thinks Rashford has done something to his ankle, but will need to do a scan to learn more:

“I don’t know. It’s something with his ankle.”

“When he sprinted 70 yards to save a goal, it showed the attitude of the boy. I think he went over on his ankle but we need to do a scan, I’ve not had time to speak to the doctor yet.”
