Solskjaer not expecting a lot of business at Man United in January

Southampton vs Man United

Southampton and Manchester United are set to go head-to-head on Sunday afternoon.

At first glance, a United victory would seem pretty likely most of the time.

However, United have had a patchy start to the campaign which has seen them lose three ties in eight outings already.

As for Southampton, they began the weekend up in 5th spot after a solid run of form which has seen them go seven games unbeaten in the league.

Solskjaer on January window

Man United had a pretty busy 2020/21 summer transfer window with all of Donny van de Beek, Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles, Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri signed.

However, it’s fair to say that Man United are by no means the finished article, with the addition of a top centre-back and experienced right-winger no doubt on the United fans’ wish list.

However, it doesn’t sound as though Man United fans should get their hopes up too much when it comes to the winter window.

This is because when speaking ahead of the Southampton game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stated that he doesn’t predict a lot of ins and outs at Old Trafford in the upcoming window:

“It’s hard to predict what the financial situation is, if teams need to sell or if they have got money to buy. I don’t predict a lot of ins and outs, to be fair.

“The world, financially, and football world has changed as well, it depends the injury situations are at teams. I feel very happy with my squad, we’re getting stronger. I still have issues every week when we only have an 18-man squad: who do I leave out? I feel we’re in a good position.”
