Solskjaer has ‘expressed his frustration’ at Man United’s lack of transfer activity

Man United’s slow window

Manchester United finished 33 points off Premier League winners Liverpool last season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also appeared fairly reluctant to feature players outside of his main starting eleven, which eventually led to a number of players looking very fatigued at the back end of the campaign.

As a result, this summer is viewed by many as one in which United needed to add some depth to help out their already decent main eleven.

To this point, though, United have made just one signing. That, of course, being Donny van de Beek from Ajax.

Solskjaer vents frustrations

And whilst the Dutchman will no doubt prove a decent asset for United, was the centre of midfield really an area that was desperate to be strengthened?

Man United’s right-wing, centre-back and possibly centre-forward spots appeared to be the main areas where the Red Devils needed to improve upon.

United were, of course, heavily tipped to move for Jadon Sancho in the summer, though that deal appears to have fallen flat.

The Red Devils have also been linked with fresh faces at the back, though no arrival appears imminent at this point.

And with United’s season now less than two weeks away from kicking off, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appears to be growing frustrated at his side’s lack of movement in the market compared to the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City.

As per the Daily Star, quoting Ian McGarry of the Transfer Window podcast:

“I’m told that there was a meeting at Carrington training ground earlier this week in which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer met with some of the recruitment staff, including Matt Judge who’s the guy who basically recommends and makes decisions on players before it goes upstairs to Ed Woodward.

“[Solskjaer] expressed his frustration and, unsurprisingly, with Manchester City already ahead in the window with the signings of Nathan Ake and Ferran Torres, Chelsea spending like drunken yuppies it seems on all parts of the team, Solskjaer is concerned that despite the fact he has been flagging up for weeks and months now where he sees the team needs to be strengthened, they are lagging behind their rivals.”
