Reece James returns for Chelsea as Lampard confirms Tomori’s long-term future

James returns for Chelsea

Chelsea go into the West London Derby with Fulham with the insensitive of turning around a recent poor run of form. With just one win from their last six games, Frank Lampard has been under increasing pressure to turn things around considering the amount of money which was spent on the squad in the summer.

What has been positive for Lampard is the news that players will be available on the whole for the match this Saturday. The former England international confirmed that only N’Golo Kante will miss out on the match due to suspension and that Reece James and Andreas Christensen would return from their fitness problems.

“We’re all good. N’Golo Kante is suspended but back training with us from tomorrow,” he said.

The return of James means that Chelsea will be able to field their strongest back four, with Ben Chilwell also fit alongside Kurt Zouma and Thiago Silva.

Tomori has long-term future

The future of centre-half Fikayo Tomori has been of some speculation after the England youth international has struggled for regular game time this season and has been tipped for a loan move from the club this winter window.

However, Frank Lampard was very supportive of the young player and even went on to say that he would have a long-term future with the club whether or not he was to leave on loan in the short term.

“He absolutely has a long-term future at this club but we will see if and when he goes on loan,” he said.

Tomori has been linked with a number of clubs but most recently the rumour is surrounding the Italian title chasers AC Milan.

The sleeping giants of Italian football had been linked with a move for Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan. However, with the deal proving difficult to secure, they may choose a short-term option before a more serious bid for a defender in the summer window.
