England pick up big win
England returned to competitive action on Sunday evening.
After putting Wales to the sword by three goals to nil earlier in the week, the Three Lions were probably full of confidence heading into this tie.
However, Belgium are currently the world’s no.1 ranked team and a much tougher test than England are used to facing on a regular basis.
This showed in the first 45, which Belgium completely dominated and probably should have score three or four in.
However, a 39th-minute penalty from Marcus Rashford ensured England went in at the break level.
Gareth Southgate and co. then came out for the second 45 much improved and, thanks to a huge deflection, were actually able to take the lead midway through the second half.
England held out for the victory and now sit atop of their Nations League group.
Highlights: England 2-Belgium 1
Marcus Rashford matches Man United greats
Whilst the spotlight is more on England’s display overall, one player, in particular, earned an impressive feat during the Belgium tie.
Said player comes in the former of Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.
As mentioned above, Rashford score the equaliser for England and in doing so, matched a record previously held by just four Man United stars.
Rashford’s strike was his 4th in four competitive appearances for England, a record only matched by three United players in the past.
Said players are Bobby Charlton, David Beckham and Wayne Rooney – putting Rashford in illustrious company.
