Problems mount at Man United with injured Marcus Rashford expected to pull out of England squad

As confirmed online this evening, Marcus Rashford appears altogether unlikely to feature in England’s upcoming round of fixtures, after picking up a fitness problem.

England squad revealed

Gareth Southgate’s men are set to return to action early next month.

In the country’s first first taste of competitive action since November of last year, the Three Lions will get their Nations League campaign underway with a pair of outings.

First up comes a meeting with Iceland on Saturday the 5th of September. And this will be followed 3 days later by a trip to Copenhagen to take on Denmark.

As such, ahead of his side’s return to the pitch, Southgate this week named his latest England squad.

There were a host of familiar faces present, as well as some newcomers, with Jack Grealish having no doubt felt hard done by following the Aston Villa star’s surprise omission:

Here is your first #ThreeLions squad of the year! 🙌

Rashford to miss out

The main talking point surrounding the Three Lions’ latest panel in the hours that followed its announcement, however, of course surrounded the situation of Harry Maguire.

Having initially being named as part of Southgate’s travelling squad on Tuesday afternoon, the Manchester United captain was later withdrawn, after being found guilty of a trio of offences in Greek court relating to an incident on the island of Mykonos.

The bad news has since continued to flow for the Red Devils, meanwhile, after Paul Pogba tested positive for Covid-19, and Brandon Williams was forced to pull out of England’s U21 squad with a foot issue.

And, as outlined above, incredibly, United’s rotten run of luck has this evening rolled on.

A number of reliable sources have taken to social media, to confirm that Marcus Rashford looks set to follow Maguire out of the Three Lions’ senior panel to face Iceland and Denmark.

This comes with the attacker having picked up an ankle problem:

Rashford almost definitely to pull out of England squad – with ankle problem – that should be okay after some rest…
