Guardiola hints at his intent to sign new Man City contract
Pep Guardiola has been Manchester City boss since 2016.
During his stint in Manchester, the Spaniard has transformed the Sky Blues into one of the most feared sides in English football.
Under Pep, City have won a plethora of trophies including two Premier League titles.
City have also set a number of records under Guardiola’s guidance including becoming the first male side to win the English domestic treble.
Man City’s 2017/18 campaign also saw them set a new Premier League points record.
However, Guardiola’s long-term future at the Etihad is currently up in the air – due to the former Barcelona man now entering the final year of his contract.
His stint in Manchester is now the longest he has spent as manager of any side. But despite this, Guardiola still seems keen to extend his stay in England, stating recently that he would love to stay for longer:
“I would love to stay longer here.
“It is a place I like to be but I have to deserve [a new contract]. This club achieved standards in the last decade but we have to extend that.
“We have [every] three days a game so we don’t have much time to think about it. I see every day Txiki [Begiristain, the City director of football] and Ferran [Soriano, the chief executive] and I speak every week with [chairman] Khaldoon [al-Mubarak]. When it is going to happen, it is going to happen. It will not be a problem for the club.
“I would not be here if I didn’t feel the fire or desire to play good. Still I have passion to do it and maybe more than ever. I want more than ever to build the team.”
