Patrick Bamford signs secret 1-year Leeds extension, West Ham want Tammy Abraham on loan

Bamford signed secret extension

Leeds United striker and prospective England forward Patrick Bamford has been revealed to have signed a new deal with the club.

However, not in the traditional sense of an announcement, video and all the other 21st century social media perks.

The Athletic report that this extension was effectively done behind closed doors and Bamford’s current deal now runs until 2023.

15 goals in the Premier League this season have seen the forward call for attention of England boss Gareth Southgate.

However, the form of Harry Kane, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ollie Watkins has made things difficult.

Southgate is set to name his initial 26-man squad soon and with Watkins getting sent off against Man United, Bamford has a chance to continue banging in the goals to convince the setup he deserves the call.

The contract extension shows the intent from Leeds for Bamford to be their Premier League striker for the foreseeable future.

West Ham want Abraham loan

Another striker whose England Euro dream is unlikely is that of Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham.

Under Frank Lampard the Chelsea youth academy graduate was a valuable asset and used plenty. However, since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic have all been preferred in a central role.

This has led to suggestions he may leave in search of game time this summer and West Ham are supposedly interested.

It is reported that West Ham initially bulked at the asking price but want to pursue a possible loan deal to make it happen.

Chelsea would of course prefer a sizeable fee and there will be no shortage of suitors for the striker who has an impressive haul of strikes in England’s top flight.

Despite his lack of game time he is still the club’s joint top scorer in the league with 12.

A move makes sense, but the logistics and finances behind it make it a difficult one.
