Official: Wolves announce signing of Porto wonderkid Fabio Silva in club-record deal

Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers have this evening sealed the big-money signing of Fabio Silva from Porto.

Porto sensation

Silva, 18, has long been viewed as one of the finest young talents in Portuguese football.

The teenage striker excelled at youth level with Porto, notching 20 goals in just 26 appearances for the club’s U19-side, despite lining out several years above his age group.

This eventually resulted in Silva being introduced to the first-team ranks of the Primeira Liga giants on a consistent basis for the first time this past season.

And the prodigious youngster quickly went on to break a number of club records, lining out as the youngest player in Porto’s storied history, before finding the net versus Famalicao to become the youngest-ever goalscorer for the Dragoes.

All told, Silva racked up 24 appearances in 2019/20, directly contributing to 5 goals in the process.

Such stellar exploits at such a young age, though, were always inevitably going to result in Silva piquing the interest of some of European football’s heavyweights.

And, as outlined above, almost out of the blue, one such Premier League outfit have today swooped to clinch the attacker’s signature.

The club in question are Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In a post across the club’s social media platforms a short time ago, Wolves confirmed that they have secured Silva’s services in a club-record deal, rumoured to be worth around €40 million.
