Mikel Arteta believes Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah is ‘evolving the right way’

Manchester City vs Arsenal

One of the weekend’s more high-profile Premier League clashes pits Arsenal against Manchester City.

Said clash will take place at 5:30 UK time and you can check out 101’s betting tips for the game here.

Arsenal will head into the tie in fine form, boasting an almost perfect record in 2020/21.

After seeing off Liverpool, the Gunners are now into the last eight of this season’s League Cup.

And barring a defeat at Anfield in the league, Arsenal’s start to the Premier League season has been solid.

As for Manchester City, though they have played one less game than their upcoming opponents, they are down in 14th spot after losing one, drawing one and winning one in the league.

And given Arsenal were able to dispatch City last time these two sides met in the FA Cup earlier this year, Mikel Arteta and co. probably fancy their chances this weekend.

Arteta praises Nketiah

Mikel Arteta would hold his pre-Man City press conference on Thursday.

During the presser, the Spaniard discussed a number of topics, one of which was Eddie Nketiah, who early this week surpassed Alan Shearer’s England under-21 goalscoring record.

As well as impressing for his country, the forward has had a solid start to the campaign with Arsenal, notching key goals vs West Ham and Leicester.

And on Thursday, Arteta was drawn on the possibility of Nketiah becoming a more regular starter for the Gunners, to which the Spaniard responded:

“Well, he’s very close because he’s already challenging everybody every week, whether he’s starting or not. I always have no doubts with him because of the way he trains and performs, his goalscoring record is getting better and better every week.

“He’s evolving the right way and this is what we need, players challenging and knocking on the door to become starters for us.”
