Reports stemming from the English media on Monday have hinted at Mauricio Pochettino potentially taking up the reins at Manchester City.
Argentine tactician Pochettino is of course best remembered for his previous time spent in the Premier League.
Following a 3-year stint in charge of Espanyol, the 48-year-old opted to make the move to Southampton in 2013, before linking up with Tottenham a year later.
And it was his spell in north London which saw Pochettino go on to establish himself as one of the most highly-regarded managers in not only England, but all of Europe.
The former Argentinian international guided Spurs to top-4 finishes in four of his five seasons with the club, including a runners-up berth in 2016-17.
Poch’s crowning achievement, though, came two seasons ago, when, miraculously, he oversaw the Lilywhites’ run all the way to the final of the Champions League.
A dismal opening to the campaign last time out, however, saw loyalties cast aside by Tottenham, and Pochettino dismissed in November of 2019.
And, somewhat surprisingly, the South American has since remained out of work.
Recent reports stemming from Russia, meanwhile, went as far as to claim that the tactician was in active talks over a potential position at Zenit St. Petersburg.
To this point, though, no outfit have been more hotly tipped as a potential landing spot for Poch than Manchester United.
Amid another hit-and-miss opening to the current campaign, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future at Old Trafford has inevitably been called into question.
And, in turn, it has been persistently and confidently assured that the Red Devils hierarchy view Pochettino as the ideal replacement.

But, as outlined above, if the latest word stemming from the English media on Monday is to be believed, then not only could United be set to miss out on their no.1 managerial target, but they may even lose him to a bitter rival.
This comes amid claims that Pochettino is now being eyed by none other than Manchester City.
As per a report from Goal, Pep Guardiola, despite claims to the contrary just this week, is in fact ‘no closer’ to agreeing to a new contract at the Etihad.
As such, as things stand, the Spaniard is due to depart the club next summer, upon the expiration of his current deal:

It has therefore been claimed that City are already looking into potential replacements for their legendary tactician.
And one such candidate, as per Goal, is Pochettino.
RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann, meanwhile, is also said to be under consideration:
