Sheffield United vs Arsenal
Arsenal are back in Premier League action on Sunday evening.
The Gunners are set to face off with Premier League basement dwellers, Sheffield United, at Bramall Lane.
Mikel Arteta’s side head into the weekend’s action down in 10th place in the English top-flight.
At present, Arsenal are a full seven points off 6th place and nine adrift of the final Champions League spot.
So, though this game is unlikely to mean much when it comes to securing European football, the north Londoners are no doubt in need of a confidence booster ahead of their second-leg meeting with Slavia Prague next week.
Mikel Arteta on Martin Odegaard
Arsenal faced off with the Czech outfit in the first of two Europa League quarter-final ties on April 8th.
The Londoners dominated the tie and squandered countless chances. As a result, despite being the better side on the night, Arsenal only came away with a 1-1 draw – handing Slavia Prague a huge away goal.
Following the tie, Mikel Arteta spoke to the press. When doing so, he provided an update on Martin Odegaard.
The on-loan midfielder missed Thursday’s action and it doesn’t look as though Arsenal fans should expect him back this weekend either.
When drawn on Martin Odegaard’s absence and how bad his situation is, Arteta stated he thinks he will be out vs Sheffield United and also potentially the return leg vs Slavia Prague:
“We don’t know, he wasn’t able to play today and he will be out I think for the next game or two. But we don’t know yet.”
