Man United may allow Dean Henderson to go out on loan in January

Henderson’s Man United stint

Dean Henderson, of course, had a spectacular 2019/20 campaign on the books of Sheffield United.

Henderson had excelled with the Blades the season prior, but it was unclear if the Englishman could cope with the step-up to the Premier League.

However, Henderson would take to the English top-flight like a duck to water, playing a key role in Sheffield United’s sensational 2019/20 campaign.

So, given he had proven he was more than ready for a regular starting berth in the Premier League, question marks began to be raised over Henderson’s Manchester United future – especially given it was hard to see David de Gea departing Old Trafford anytime soon.

But Henderson has since opted to remain at Old Trafford to battle it out with the Spaniard.

To this point though, that plan isn’t working out too well.

The 23-year-old has been afforded just three starts this season, two of which came in the League Cup vs lower-league opposition.

Henderson to be loaned out?

Now, with January on the horizon, speculation surrounding Henderson’s future has once again resurfaced.

According to a recent report from ESPN, Henderson could be allowed to secure a loan move in January to boost his chances of ousting Jordan Pickford as England’s no.1.

The Everton shot-stopper hasn’t had a great run of late. But despite this, Gareth Southgate recently claimed he doesn’t see anyone currently seriously challenging Pickford for his England place:

And with the Euros hopefully set to take place next summer, Henderson may well be suited to departing United in January to get some much-needed playing time under his belt.
