Man United & Man City both reportedly want Mauricio Pochettino

Man United & Man City’s recent struggles

Both Manchester-based Premier League clubs are currently enduring something of a rough patch.

Manchester City’s is arguably a lot less serious that United’s but by their usual standards, the Citizens have dropped off a fair bit recently.

For example, Pep Guardiola was only able to guide the Sky Blues to a 2nd-place finish last term, ending the season a staggering 18 points off Liverpool.

City were also once again knocked out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stages.

As for Man United, they ended 2020/21 in pretty patchy form and have continued to struggle this season, with their latest outing a 6-1 drubbing at the hands of Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham.

Pochettino to Manchester?

And it was shortly after this tie when United saw themselves linked with a new boss.

The manager in question was Mauricio Pochettino, who has been out of work since being sacked by Spurs last term.

The above-linked report did state at the time that Ed Woodward was unwilling to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during an international break.

But this weekend, the Pochettino to United rumours have once again emerged.

According to a recent report from the Mirror, the Red Devils are eying Pochettino after a poor start to the season under Solskjaer.

However, United are also said to be aware that ‘Poch’ is seen by Man City as a candidate to replace Pep Guardiola at the Etihad, whose contract expires next summer:
