Man United dealt David de Gea injury blow vs Southampton

Manchester United are currently taking on Southampton in a Premier League clash.

The Red Devils headed into the tie in fine form having picked up three wins on the bounce across all competitions.

Two of those wins came in the Premier League vs Everton and West Brom.

Southampton, though, looked set to prove Man United’s toughest test in recent weeks, with the Saints unbeaten since their second game of the campaign.

And at the moment, Southampton are indeed proving too much for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co.

Some questionable defending from a set-piece allowed Jan Bednarek to fire Southampton into the lead 22 minutes into the tie, despite United dominating the early stages of the tie:

Man United’s woes were compounded just 10 minuter later when James Ward-Prowse bent a lovely free-kick past David dea Gea to double Southampton’s lead.

And as if things couldn’t get any worse for United, they have now been dealt a blow on the personnel front.

Said blow comes to David dea Gea, who looked to pick up a knock whilst attempting to keep out the aforementioned Ward-Prowse free-kick.

The Spaniard would carry on after receiving treatment but was then taken off at half-time in place of Dean Henderson:
