Man City’s current Lionel Messi situation revealed/ Sergio Aguero quizzed on Barcelona star & his own future

Messi & Barcelona

Lionel Messi’s future has of course been a major talking point in the world of football for some time now.

Following his side’s hammering at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League last time out, Messi looked to leave the Camp Nou via a clause in his contract.

However, after months of back and forth, Messi eventually opted to stay put for 2020/21.

But despite being set to see out the current campaign with Barcelona, Messi’s future beyond the summer is uncertain.

Man City yet to offer for Messi

Two of the teams most heavily linked with the Argentine in the last year or so have been Manchester City and PSG.

Both are of course very well-backed clubs, with City also currently having Pep Guardiola in the dugout – the man who arguably got the best football out of Messi.

So, with Messi currently on his way to seeing out his Barcelona deal and leaving in the summer, City fans will no doubt be desperate for their club to land the great on a ‘free’.

On Friday, though, City have revealed their current situation when it comes to Messi. As per the BBC’s Simon Stone, the Sky Blues have not made an offer for Messi, whether that be or in the summer or beyond.

There are also said to be no talks with the 33-year-old:

Elsewhere, Sergio Aguero was also quizzed on City’s interest in Messi, but the forward gave little away:

“Who doesn’t like to play with Leo?”

He was also pressed his own deal, which currently runs out in the summer, Aguero stated:

“I don’t know what I’m going to do in June.”
