Man City provide explanations for all of Silva, Cancelo & Zinchenko missing out vs Wolves

Explanations for the surprise absences of a trio of Manchester City stars for the club’s meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers have been forthcoming online this evening.

Pep Guardiola’s men are currently locked in action at Molineux, in a Premier League clash.

The matchup marks City’s campaign opener, after the Sky Blues were granted an extended summer break following their endeavours in last season’s Champions League.

Wolves, on the other hand, took full part in the Premier League’s opening weekend.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s outfit made the trip to Bramall Lane, for a meeting with Sheffield United.

And to say that the visitors went on to impress would be an understatement, with Wolves having eventually emerged with a deserved 2-0 win.

Citizens injury woes

As such, ahead of kick-off this evening, Manchester City were fully aware of the tough task in store.

It therefore no doubt came as a major source of concern for fans of the club when, upon the announcement of Guardiola’s matchday squad, a number of key players were nowhere to be seen.

Whilst Sergio Aguero, Aymeric Laporte and Ilkay Gundogan (the latter of whom tested positive for Covid-19 earlier today) were all expected to miss out, the same could not be said for fellow Sky Blues trio Bernardo Silva, Joao Cancelo and Oleksandr Zinchenko:
