Man City complain to Sky over Roy Keane’s Kyle Walker comments

Keane brands Kyle Walker an ‘idiot’

Manchester City’s last clash before the international break saw them play out a 1-1 draw with close rivals, Liverpool.

The Citizens would go behind in the tie after Mohamed Salah converted a spot-kick, which was given away by Kyle Walker.

Walker would trip Sadio Mane – an action which caused Roy Keane, who was a pundit for Sky Sports covering the game, to brand the full-back an idiot:

Now, it has since been reported that City have taken issue with the Irishman’s comments.

It is believed that City have no problems with someone questioning a player’s actions, but they do appear to have taken issue with Keane’s use of the word idiot.

Man City contract latest

On more positive notes, Manchester City look to at least be making some progress when it comes to tying down two of their biggest names.

First up is Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola took up the reins at the Etihad back in 2016 replacing Manuel Pellegrini

Since making the move to Manchester, the Spaniard has transformed City into one of the most feared sides in England.

Guardiola has guided the Sky Blues to a host of trophies and records, including the highest-ever points tally in a Premier League season, which they achieved in 2017/18.

The 2018/19 campaign, meanwhile, saw the former Barcelona boss’ City side become the first male English side to clinch the domestic treble.

As has been widely discussed, though, Guardiola has struggled to produce similar success in Europe, with City having been knocked out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage three years in a row.

Their latest European venture saw City beaten by a rather average Lyon side in the last eight.

The Citizens also struggled in the Premier League last term, finishing a staggering 18 points off eventual champions Liverpool.

As such, with Guardiola now in the final year of his contract, it remains unclear whether the ex-Bayern Munich tactician is set to remain at the Etihad beyond next summer.

It is also worth noting that his current spell with Man City is the longest Guardiola has spent as manager of a club.

However, recent days have seemingly seen some clarity brought to light when it comes to the Spaniard’s future at the Etihad.

As per a recent report from the Telegraph, Pep Guardiola is moving closer to agreeing a contract extension to extend his stay in Manchester.

No details are provided concerning the length of any potential extension, but it should still no doubt please the City faithful:

Elsewhere on the Man City contract front, Kevin De Bruyne is also believed to be negotiating fresh terms with the Citizens:
