Lukaku out Skriniar in
Inter Milan’s pivotal Champions League clash against Real Madrid will be completed without Romelu Lukaku. Spanish media have reported the Belgian international has failed to recover from the muscle injury he suffered against Shakhtar Donetsk.
Inter drew 2-2 at home to Parma with Antonio Conte continuing with a front two despite Lukaku’s absence. Croatian international Ivan Perisic played alongside Lautaro Martinez and scored a 92nd minute equaliser for the Nerazzurri.
Conte’s striking options are limited to younger options Martin Satriano (19) and Andrea Pinamonti (21), the latter of which came on for Inter against Parma. Former Arsenal winger Gervinho scored a brace for the away side, opening up the defensive frailties of Inter.

However, Conte will be boosted by the news that Milan Skriniar has recovered from COVID to be available against Los Blancos. Providing much needed defensive reinforcement.
A pivotal game
Both Inter Milan and Real Madrid have had disappointing starts to their Champions League group stage fixtures. Real Madrid were humbled in the Spanish capital against Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk. The away side went 3-0 up despite having many first team players unavailable due to a coronavirus outbreak in the squad.
Real managed to get two goals back but couldn’t recover fully. They then went on to go 2-0 down in Germany. Frenchman Marcus Thuram put Borussia Monchengladbach two goals to the good but this time Real did recover. Leaving it late, Casemiro scored an equaliser in stoppage time to steal a point at Borussia Park.

Meanwhile, Inter have also dropped points to the Ukrainian and German sides. The Italians matched Real’s score against Gladbach but neither side could get on the scoresheet when Shakhtar hosted the Nerazzurri.
This leaves Real bottom of the group with a single point and Inter ahead on 2 points. A share of the points would appear disastrous for either side and the though of Real not making the knock-out rounds is hard to comprehend.
The clubs face-off on Tuesday 20:00 3rd October.
