A recent report from Italy has credited Liverpool with an interest in Udinese’s Rodrigo De Paul.
Who is De Paul?
De Paul joined current club Udinese in 2016, departing La Liga outfit Valencia for a fee of around €3m.
De Paul, now 26, has gone on to become a crucial member of the Serie A outfit’s squad.
All told, the Argentine has managed to notch 171 appearances for Udinese, in which he has scored an impressive 30 goals and provided 30 assists.
De Paul is a central midfielder by trade and though he can play in a more defensive role or slightly further forward, he is best used in a box-to-box role.
This is where he has been most effective for Udinese, chipping in with a decent number of goals and assists whilst also helping out at the back.
Liverpool linked with De Paul
So, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to see Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool linked with the midfielder.
Players like Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum, who have proven to be very effective at both ends of the pitch, have enjoyed a fair amount of success in Klopp’s system. Players such as Naby Keita and Thiago, though, who are much more attack-minded, have not been as impactful.
But with Wijnaldum’s current Liverpool deal up in the summer, the Reds will probably need to look to the market to help replace him, and De Paul does seem like a solid option.
And according to a recent report from TuttoUdinese, De Paul is a Liverpool transfer target, with the Merseysiders said to be ready to make an offer of at least €30m for the former Valencia man.
