Daka’s RB Salzburg stint
Patson Daka joined Austrian outfit RB Salzburg in 2017, departing Zambian outfit, Kafue Celtic FC.
Daka had been a solid player for Salzburg, but recent years had of course seen the spotlight predominantly put on Erling Haaland.
However, since Haaland left for Borussia Dortmund, Daka has done a solid job of filling the Norwegian’s boots.
In 13 league outings this season, for example, the Zambian international has scored 13 goals and provided five assists.
Daka would also net an impressive 27 goals and provide 12 assists in 45 outings across all competitions during 2019/20.
Liverpool-linked Daka a fan of Jurgen Klopp’s side
Such fine form would see several sides linked with Daka over the last year or so.
Two of these sides came from the Premier League in the form of Liverpool and West Ham United.
And now, in a recent interview, the 22-year-old has revealed that he has always been a fan of Liverpool and Barcelona, labelling his trip to Anfield in the Champions League last season as a very special moment:
“I’ve always been a fan of Liverpool and Barcelona. When we played Liverpool last season in the Champions League at Anfield, it was a very special moment.”
“I do not necessarily aspire to follow in Haaland’s footsteps, but every player has the ambition to progress and go as far as possible in their careers It is not something that obsesses me. The present moment will determine my future.
“When it is my turn to leave the club, a new player will take the limelight and will be considered my successor.”
