Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp responds to Germany job links

Klopp’s Liverpool stint

Jurgen Klopp took the reins at Liverpool back in October of 2015.

The German inherited a squad that, at the time, wasn’t exactly viewed as being of ‘top-four’ calibre.

However, after several years of investment, Klopp has managed to turn the Reds into one of the most formidable sides in not only England, but all of Europe.

Liverpool missed out on their first-ever Premier League title by a single point last year, though Klopp nevertheless guided his side to a 6th Championship League title.

Then, last season, Klopp and co. finally ended Liverpool’s 30-year wait for domestic glory.

The Merseyside outfit notched a club-record 99 points in the Premier League, the second-highest total in the history of the competition, to secure the English top-flight crown.

Klopp on Germany job

As such, with a Champions League and Premier League title added to the club’s trophy collection over the last two years, the Liverpool faithful are no doubt keen to avail of the Klopp era for as long as possible.

So, recent reports linking Klopp with the Germany job probably haven’t gone down too well on Merseyside.

Joachim Low’s Germany have been on the decline for some time, underperforming in tournaments and most recently, enduring a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Spain.

As a result, Jurgen Klopp, on paper, does seem like the ideal man to step in and help Die Mannschaft.

However, when quizzed on said rumours recently, Klopp looked to play them down somewhat:

“Wow, I thought that is one of the questions I answered most often in my life!

“In the future, maybe. Now? No. I have no time, I have a job – a pretty intense job by the way!

“I’m not sure if anyone asked for me or whatever, but if they don’t know, I have a job at Liverpool. And even though the weather is bad again, I like it!

“I’m responsible for a lot of things here, so I will not go and search for another challenge. I have enough challenges after waking up in the morning!”
