Barcelona see off Cadiz
FC Barcelona were back in La Liga action on Sunday afternoon.
Ronaldo Koeman’s side have been in solid form in the league of late, but their cup exploits have been less than impressive in recent weeks – with their previous clash of course the 4-1 hammering at the hands of PSG in the Champions League.
But given their impressive form domestically of late, La Blaugrana were no doubt confident of returning to winning ways against a Cadiz side who had fallen to defeat in their previous four league outings.
And after Atletico Madrid were handed a rare loss on Saturday, Sunday’s game represented a great chance for the Catalonians to gain some ground on their title rivals.
And Barca would indeed take the lead in the tie through a Lionel Messi penalty 32 minutes in.

However, a late penalty from Aleix Fernandez would put an end to Barca’s winning run in La Liga, leaving them to settle for a point in what looked a very winnable clash.
Lionel Messi’s latest Barcelona record
It also means they remain eight points off top spot and five points adrift of Real Madrid.
On what was likely an otherwise disappointing afternoon for Barcelona, Lionel Messi would set yet another record.
The Argentine was of course in from the off against Cadiz, in what was his 506th appearance for the club.
Said outing meant that Messi is now the Barcelona player with the most La Liga appearances, a record previously held by one of his former teammates, Xavi Hernandez:
