Jose Mourinho believes Harry Kane will be available for Tottenham vs West Ham

West Ham vs Tottenham

Tottenham will return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs are set to face off with London rivals West Ham as they look to build on their midweek European win.

The Lilywhites will head into the weekend’s PL action having lost four of their last five league games, with their only win coming against a poor West Brom side.

As a result Jose Mourinho’s side are currently sat down in 9th in the English top-flight, six points off a Champions League spot.

West Ham, meanwhile, are up in 5th and on a fine run of form.

Mourinho on Harry Kane

Before facing West Ham this week, Tottenham were in Europa League action vs Wolfsberg.

Spurs were able to win their first leg against the Austrian outfit 4-1 without the services of Harry Kane.

The star striker has only recently returned from injury but was not involved at all on Thursday.

As a result, Spurs fans were probably slightly concerned that Kane had picked up another knock that would rule him out of West Ham.

However, when pressed on whether Kane will be available for the West Ham game post-Wolfsberg, Mourinho stated:

“I believe so, but an experienced guy that had injuries in the past, he knows his body better than anyone, he knows I want him to play every minute of every game.

“I wanted to come here with the best team and the players. But he made the decision based on his feeling that to play this game could be a risk based on the accumulation of injuries and minutes he has.

“We and the sports science staff agreed. I believe Sunday he will be OK and ready.”
