Jordan Henderson Liverpool’s latest injury casualty

Liverpool’s injuries mount

The last few weeks have proven something of a nightmare for Liverpool.

The Reds’ injury luck has been pretty dreadful, with a number of the club’s key stars currently sidelined.

The headline news last month was, of course, the long-term injury picked up by Virgil van Dijk during the Merseyside derby, with the Dutchman now expected to miss the majority of the campaign.

This was followed by Fabinho, who had begun deputising at centre-half in van Dijk’s absence, suffering a hamstring injury.

And, just when it looked as though things couldn’t get any worse for Jurgen Klopp’s men, both Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold also went on to pick up injuries, with the former too now expected to miss a good chunk of the campaign.

Andy Robertson then picked up a hamstring issue whilst playing for Scotland, meaning there is a real chance Liverpool could head into their upcoming clash with Leicester City without the entirety of their first-choice back-four.

Henderson injured with England

And on Sunday evening, Liverpool suffered yet another injury blow.

England would take on Belgium in their penultimate Nations League clash of the year.

The Three Lions needed a win to realistically keep their qualification hopes alive, but instead fell to a 2-0 defeat.

As well as losing the tie, England also lost Jordan Henderson to injury at half-time.

Gareth Southgate would confirm post-match that the Liverpool skipper had some tightness in his leg and was unable to carry on:

“Jordan had a bit of tightness at half-time and felt he couldn’t carry on.”
