Insight provided into heated Lampard-Mourinho touchline exchange during Chelsea vs Spurs

Chelsea and Spurs are of course currently locked in action.

The latter welcomed their capital rivals to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, for a League Cup 4th-round clash.

Bizarrely, the matchup represents Spurs’ 2nd in the space of just 3 days, with the Lilywhites set for yet another outing on Thursday evening, when they face off against Israeli giants Maccabi Haifa for a spot in the group stages of the Europa League.

As such, Jose Mourinho opted to rest a number of his key performers this evening.

It has, in turn, therefore come as little surprise to see Chelsea out in front.

The Blues took the lead in the clash inside 20 minutes, when, after Cesar Azpilicueta left debutant Sergio Reguilon for dead, the Spaniard’s pull back to the edge of the box was expertly rifled home by Timo Werner:

Werner’s first in Chelsea’s colours aside, the other main highlight from the opening 45 minutes in north London this evening came in the form of a spat on the sidelines.

Jose Mourinho and Frank Lampard were the individuals involved, with a rather heated exchange of words having continued for some time just past the matchup’s 25-minute mark:
