“He had the passport by cheating” – Luis Suarez reportedly obtained questions in advance of Italian citizenship test

Cheaters never prosper

Luis Suarez has been involved in a number of controversies throughout his career. From biting fellow professionals to accusations of racism.

The latest allegations levelled at the Uruguayan international surround his recent sitting of the Italian citizenship test.

Supposedly, Suarez managed to access key questions ahead of the test, and knew of the subjects which were set to appear.

Suarez is reported to have had only an “elementary” knowledge of the language.

Further investigation found that ‘he does not speak a word of Italian. He does not conjugate verbs, he only speaks using the infinitive. If journalists would ask him some questions, he’d be lost. He earns €10m/year, he needs to pass this exam.’

Most importantly, however, Italian news agency Ansa has been informed by judicial sources that Suarez himself is not under investigation.

Juve switch targets

Suarez of course took the citizenship test ahead of an expected move to Juventus. This has since broken down, though, with the Uruguayan now looking set to move to Atletico Madrid.

Therefore, the Italian club have moved quickly to sign Atletico’s own Alvaro Morata.

The 27-year-old has unfinished business in Italy. In fact, Morata scored twice for Juventus against Real Madrid after being sold by the Spanish side.

Real later activated a buy-back option in his contract. Morata went on to win both La Liga and the Champions League upon his return.

The striker then took yet another new path, when he joined Premier League side Chelsea. He won the FA Cup and Europa League before returning to Madrid, this time with the Rojiblancos.

With Gonzalo Higuain having departed Turin for the United States, the Bianconeri have sought a familiar face in Morata. The Spaniard enjoyed a successful spell in Serie A, and will be hoping to emulate those past glories upon his return.
