Harry Winks admits his situation at Tottenham is ‘difficult at the moment’

Tottenham flying high

Tottenham have had a sensational start to the 2020/21 campaign.

Spurs would bring in several players over the delayed summer window and it appears to have improved their squad a great deal.

Currently, the Lilywhites are sat 2nd in the Premier League table having not lost since the opening weekend.

They are also just one point adrift of table-topping Leicester and boast the second-best attack in the Premier League right now.

It is also worth noting that the majority of the north Londoner’s success has come without a fully fit Gareth Bale at their disposal.

Winks in difficult situation

One man who seemingly isn’t overly happy at Tottenham right now, though, is Harry Winks.

The midfielder was a fairly regular feature for Jose Mourinho’s side at the beginning of the campaign.

However, Winks has since been afforded just 17 minutes of action in the Lilywhites’ last five league ties – missing out on the matchday squad entirely vs West Brom and Burnley.

Now, with the Euros just around the corner, Winks has spoken out about his need for more opportunities at Spurs.

When asked if he needed to play more minutes for Tottenham to stay in the England picture, Winks stated:

“Definitely, my situation at Tottenham is difficult at the moment.

“It’s important that I keep fighting and working as hard as I can to stay in the squad and to stay in the team.

“Every time I get the opportunity for England I love it. It’s a great place to play football here, it’s free and the lads get on really well, it’s a great place to come to.

“I want to be a part of that in the Euros and I want to be in the starting XI in the Euros as well.

“But, yes, it’s important that back at Tottenham I get the opportunities there and I stay in the team there as well.”
