Arsenal land Gabriel
Despite missing out on Champions League football and the money it brings in, Arsenal had a pretty productive transfer window.
Obviously, the deadline-day addition of Thomas Partey is in the forefront of Arsenal fan’s minds right now.
However, signing Gabriel from Lille earlier in the window should still be viewed as a major coup for the Gunners.
The 22-year-old is understood to have set the north Londoners back just over £23m, which in today’s market is a real steal for a quality centre-back – especially one who is left-footed
And though he has only made four appearances for the Gunners, quality is exactly what the Brazilian looks set to bring to Mikel Arteta’s backline.
Gabriel would be handed his Arsenal debut on the opening weekend of the season vs Fulham.
The Gunners ran riot that day, with Gabriel managing to net as Arsenal cruised to a 3-0 victory.
Gabriel named Arsenal’s POTM for September
The stopper has since featured three more times for Arsenal, with the Gunners picking up victories in every clash.
Gabriel would not feature at Anfield as Arsenal fell to a 3-1 defeat vs Liverpool in the Premier League.
Now, after a solid start to life in England, Gabriel has already picked up an award.
Said accolade comes in the form of Arsenal’s September Player of the Month award.
Gabriel would beat Alexandre Lacazette and Hector Bellerin two the award, notching a staggering 72 per cent of the vote:
Congratulations, Gabriel!
@Biel_M04 is your Player of the Month for September – having won more than 72% of the total votes cast
