Chelsea boss Frank Lampard this afternoon provided fitness updates on a host of his side’s stars, ahead of their upcoming meeting with West Brom.

The Blues are set to return to Premier League action tomorrow evening, in a Hawthorns meeting with Slaven Bilic’s Baggies.

Lampard’s men will head into proceedings having bounced back from disappointment versus Liverpool last weekend with a morale-boosting mid-week victory in the League Cup.

A matchup with Championship outfit Barnsley at Stamford Bridge eventually saw the hosts emerge with a comprehensive 6-0 win.

Even more significant than the result, though, was the performance of Man of the Match Kai Havertz.

German midfielder Havertz of course endured a difficult first couple of outings in England, on the back of his big-money arrival from Bayer Leverkusen earlier this month.

The 21-year-old, though, began to showcase exactly what he is capable of when firing on all cylinders on Wednesday night, netting a hat-trick to come away with the match ball in just his 3rd appearance for Chelsea.

As such, both Havertz and Chelsea will no doubt be keen to carry their improved form into proceedings at the Hawthorns on Saturday.

Whilst the former looks in line for his 4th consecutive start in the colours of the Blues, however, two of the club’s other summer signings are set to miss out.

Speaking in a press conference this afternoon, Frank Lampard was asked for a fitness update on his squad.

And the Chelsea boss went on to confirm that neither Hakim Ziyech, or latest arrival Edouard Mendy, will be fit to feature versus West Brom.

Christian Pulisic, meanwhile, will also be absent:

In more positive news, however, Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell are available for selection, though Lampard was keen to keep his cards close to his chest when it came to the pair’s potential participation tomorrow evening:
