Chilwell joins Chelsea
On the back of a host of speculation, Chelsea finally secured the services of Ben Chilwell earlier this week.
The Blues are understood to have forked over a fee of close to £45m for the defender.
Chilwell has also put pen to paper on a five-year deal, which will reportedly see him earn around £190,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge.
And whilst the left-back does appear to be still dealing with an injury issue, which he provided an update on after signing for Chelsea, securing the 23-year-old’s services does look to be a solid bit of business from the Londoners.

Absolutely buzzing to sign for @chelseafc . Really exciting time for the club, with such a good squad! Can’t wait to meet all of the lads and everyone around the building. Special thank you to the manager for the faith he has shown in me. A dream come true. Come on you blues

Nevin on potential Chilwell & Pulisic partnership
Anyone who watched Chelsea this past season will be well aware that the left-back spot was one of the areas Frank Lampard and co. desperately needed to improve upon.
Marcos Alonso and Emerson were, of course, Chelsea’s two natural left-backs last term, but Lampard appeared to have very little faith in either of them, instead opting on many occasions to play an ageing, out of position Cesar Azpilicueta ahead of the aforementioned duo.
With Chilwell on their books though, Chelsea’s left-back issue largely looks to have been solved for at least the next five or six years.
Another who is seemingly pleased with the addition of Chilwell to Chelsea’s ranks is former Blue Pat Nevin – who notched close to 200 appearances for them between 1983 and 1988.
Speaking in a recent interview, Nevin voiced the opinion that should Christian Pulisic and Chilwell click, they could form an ‘extraordinary partnership’ down Chelsea’s left-hand side:
“At Chelsea will Ben Chilwell have an intelligent, skilful, pacy winger to work with who has a superb football brain?
“One who has vision, can see a pass and crucially knows when to vacate the space for his mate hammering down the line on that left-hand side?
“A player who on top of that is selfless and keen to build a partnership out there with one-twos, dummies and the ability to draw defenders to make space?
“I may well have given something close to a perfect description of Christian Pulisic just there. That could be one extraordinary partnership if they click.
“We have others who can play out there of course and a Callum Hudson-Odoi, Hakim Ziyech or Mason Mount linking up with Chilwell would be also be a chilling concept for most Premier League defences.”
