Explanation provided for absence of Leeds pair Rodrigo & Raphinha vs Leicester

Leeds United have this evening taken to social media, to reveal why attackers Rodrigo and Raphinha have both been left out of the club’s squad to take on Leicester City.

Leeds vs Leicester

Marcelo Bielsa’s men return to Premier League action shortly, in a meeting with the Foxes at Elland Road.

The matchup comes as a highly-anticipated one, with both sides having been routinely praised for their respective brands of attacking football over the early weeks of the campaign.

They will enter Monday’s proceedings separated by just two points, and 4 spots in the English top-flight table.

A win for Brendan Rodgers’ visitors would guide them to the dizzying heights of 2nd, behind only Liverpool, on the back of a thoroughly impressive win at Arsenal last time out.

Leeds, meanwhile, could finish the day as high as 3rd, with Marcelo Bielsa’s men no doubt brimming with confidence, having downed Aston Villa by 3 goals to nil in their latest outing.

Leeds stars miss out

As is customary, an hour prior to kick-off at Elland Road this evening, the starting XI’s of both sides were unveiled online.

Visitors Leicester are set to set up as follows, with star hitman Jamie Vardy back in from the off:

In a blow for Leeds, however, upon Marcelo Bielsa’s line-up being revealed, a pair of Whites attackers were nowhere to be seen.

The players in question are summer signings Rodrigo and Raphinha:

In turn, concern quickly spread amongst Leeds’ fanbase, with the Peacocks set to return to Premier League action once again in just 5 days’ time.

As outlined above, though, explanations for the absences of both Rodrigo and Raphinha have since been provided.

As confirmed a short time ago, hitman Rodrigo recently came into contact with an unnamed individual who has since tested positive for Covid-19. As per the Premier League’s protocols, the former Valencia man has therefore been forced to sit out tonight’s proceedings.

Raphinha, meanwhile, has picked up an ankle injury, with it currently unclear how long the Brazilian is expected to be out of action.

Diego Llorente also misses out, as the stopper continues his rehabilitation following a groin injury.
