Everton’s plans to keep James Rodriguez revealed

Ancelotti, James like ‘father and son’

Since his arrival, James Rodriguez has become an instant hit at Goodison Park.

Having left Real Madrid, Rodriguez was taking a considerable gamble joining one of the Premier League’s less competitive teams.

However, he along with Carlo Ancelotti and his fellow summer signings Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Ben Godfrey have transformed the team into a European place competitor.

The Colombian has said his relationship with Ancelotti is like a ‘father and son’ situation and it has helped him to settle so well.

“I’ve come to a good club, a club that wants to achieve big things,” said James.

“I get on fantastically well with him, just like a father and son.

“So, everything was very easy and straightforward.”

James only signed a deal until 2022 and it looks like the club could be moving to ensure a longer stay.

Everton want James extension

The success that James Rodriguez has had at Everton has led to the club to look at extending his deal.

Reports emanating from Spain claim that the club want to add an additional year to his current contract which would see it then expire in 2023.

Everton have hopes of reaching a European qualification spot this season and wouldn’t hope they can build upon that in the years to come.

Rodrigo’s would be a major asset to the side as they hope to progress further up the table and into more high-tier European competitions.
