Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti coy on links to Real Madrid’s Isco

Carlo Ancelotti has recently responded to reports linking Everton with Real Madrid midfielder, Isco.

Isco struggling for minutes

Isco has been on Real’s books for just over seven years now, joining from Malaga in the summer of 2013.

The Spaniard has since gone on to have a solid career at the Bernabeu, notching four Champions Leagues and two league titles along the way.

However, despite arguably being in his prime years, the 28-year-old has fallen out of favour somewhat under Zinedine Zidane.

The midfielder was in and out of the starting eleven for much of 2019/20 and rarely completed 90 minutes in the league.

And just a few months into the new season, it is clear Isco is still not thought of too highly by Zidane.

The Spain international has featured five times in La Liga this term, but is yet to feature for longer than 57 minutes.

Isco to Everton?

As a result, speculation has begun to mount that Isco, who has just under two years left on his current contract, could be on his way out of the Bernabeu.

It was even claimed recently that Isco is keen to link up with former boss Carlo Ancelotti and former teammate, James Rodriguez, at Everton.

As a result, the Italian has inevitably been drawn on these links recently.

However, though he labelled Isco a fantastic player, Ancelotti gave little away in regards to any potential transfer interest he holds in the Madrid man:

“Isco is a fantastic player and [I have] a fantastic memory of him but now I am not, honestly, focused there.

“I am focused on an important week we are going to have to recover players and to be well prepared for the game against United.”
