An update on the potential future of Manchester United’s Eric Bailly has been provided over the weekend.
Eric Bailly’s Man United stint
Eric Bailly joined Manchester United in 2016 from Spanish outfit, Villarreal.
The centre-back is believed to have set United back around €38m.
Despite the fairly hefty fee, though, Bailly has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot for the Manchester powerhouse.
One of the main reasons for this, though, has been Bailly’s pretty horrendous fitness record since he joined the Red Devils.
During his stint in England, Bailly has picked up 15 separate injuries that have seen him miss over 90 games for Man United.
Bailly set for new deal?
So, though at 26 he is still theoretically only just coming into his prime, his future with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side didn’t seem too clear.
This comes with the Ivorian’s current contract set to run out in 2022.
And if United do want to recoup some money from him, they would probably be better served selling him in the summer whilst he still has a year left on his deal.
However, as mentioned above, a report from England over the weekend has shed some light on the stopper’s future.
And, if the report from the Sun proves true, it looks as though Bailly could be sticking around at Old Trafford for at least the next few years, with it claimed that Bailly is in talks over a new long-term Manchester United contract.
It is added that Bailly is now believed to be in early discussions over the new contract, which is thought to be around three years in length.
