Houssem Aouar’s departure from Lyon appeared confirmed after the arrival of Lucas Paqueta.
It is well documented that Arsenal have been attempting to agree a deal with the French club to sign Aouar however are yet to reach common ground.
During Paqueta’s reveal press conference, Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas revealed 3 clubs were chasing the Frenchman’s signature.
Knowing of Arsenal’s interest it was reported Juventus was one of the other clubs.
Later, one more club confirmed and ended their interest in Aouar. French champions Paris Saint-Germain were supposedly looking at Aouar but Sporting Director Leonardo has ruled out a ‘dream’ move.

This should encourage Arsenal that they have a much clearer shot to sign the 22-year-old midfielder.
Real’s interest
The third interested club still remained a mystery until Friday evening.
News emerging from France and news outlet L’Equipe stated that Real Madrid had entered the equation regarding Aouar.

Reported interest from Spain however was false. Real Madrid were not in the race to sign Aouar.
OL board insist they won’t accept less than €50m for Houssem Aouar. Arsenal are in talks and pushing… but there’s no agreement with Aulas atm.

With all three of Juventus, PSG and Real Madrid not looking to sign Aouar, Arsenal’s position at the negotiating table has strengthened.
Aulas’ public declarations of Arsenal’s pursuit of Aulas and the sudden French reports of other interested parties being false could be seen as tactical from the Lyon President.
Saturday marks the extended deadline set by Aulas for clubs to buy players from OL. Therefore news of departures could come in the next few hours.
