Arsenal have this evening released a statement, confirming that supporters will be permitted to attend the club’s upcoming Europa League meeting with Rapid Vienna.
Empty stadiums take their toll
To say that fans have been sorely missed from stadiums across England this year would be putting it lightly.
Whilst the Premier League has continued to entertain the masses since its post-lockdown return during the summer, the complete lack of atmosphere has long left football, in the UK and beyond, feeling somewhat watered down.
The roar of a home crowd celebrating their side finding the net, or groans at the other end following a missed opportunity, had always simply been taken for granted.
In their absence, though, it has become clearer than ever just how important spectators are from not only a financial standpoint, but simply in adding to the game as a whole.

As such, with the stretch without fans in attendance at Premier League fixtures having recently reached the 9-month mark for some clubs, the latest ‘tier’ announcement on the part of the UK government, whilst only a small step in the right direction, no doubt came as a monumental relief.
As confirmed earlier today, from the 2nd of December, a whole host of areas across England will move to tier 2 level restrictions.
In turn, as per the latest guidelines, Premier League clubs in all of London, Liverpool and Brighton will be permitted to have up to 2,000 fans in attendance on matchdays moving forward.
Gunners lead the way
And, as outlined above, the first side to have since officially invited supporters back to their home ground, this evening, are Arsenal.
In a post across the club’s social media platforms, the Gunners confirmed that their Europa League meeting with Rapid Vienna next Thursday night will be attended by up to 2,000 fans:
‘We’re delighted to confirm that we will be safely welcoming 2,000 supporters to our Europa League home match against Rapid Vienna on Thursday, December 3.’
Ticket prices for the clash were also unveiled as part of the statement, as outlined below:
Lower tier: £15.00
Lower tier disabled: £7.40
Club Level: £45.00
Club Level disabled: £22.50
It’s been a long nine long months without our fans.
