Werner’s Chelsea stint
Chelsea of course signed Timo Werner from RB Leipzig in the summer for a reported £45m.
The German was one of the Bundesliga’s standout stars last term, notching a staggering 34 goals and 13 assists in 45 outings across all competitions.
As a result, the Chelsea faithful were no doubt expecting to see Werner hit the ground running this season.
However, Werner, though his decline has been slightly exaggerated by some people, has not been anywhere near as impressive as he was for Leipzig.
Werner brought down to earth
Werner has found the net just five times in the league this season, with Tammy Abraham currently the Blues’ top scorer in the PL.

However, it is worth noting that the 24-year-old has been quite unlucky with some of his efforts this term, smashing the woodwork on numerous occasions.
He has also provided eight assists and won several penalties for the Londoners.
When speaking recently, though, Werner himself admitted that the last few months in England have brought him down to earth:
“At the beginning, I had this self-image that I can go on doing my thing here, but in the last few months I have been brought down to earth. It’s the way in England that you never have a quiet game.
“The players are 1.9 meters tall, brutal physically and really fast – including the defenders. It’s impressive what intensity is going on in the Premier League.”
