Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel admits Solskjaer’s Man United sent him to ‘a very dark place’

Chelsea vs Man United

The weekend’s marquee Premier League tie will play out on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United will travel to Stamford Bridge for a 4:30 PM kick-off.

Said tie could have huge implications on who secures a Champions League berth this season.

Chelsea started the weekend down in 5th place. However, the Blues are in fine form, and currently remain just six points adrift of 2nd-place United.

So, a win for Chelsea of course puts them firmly in the race for a Champions League spot. Whereas a victory for the Red Devils would all but kill of the Londoners’ chances of catching them.

Tuchel sent to a dark place by Man United

Ahead of the tie, now Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has explained how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Man United sent him to a very dark place.

United would face off with Tuchel’s PSG in the last-16 of the Champions League in 2019.

The Manchester outfit lost the first leg 2-0, but completed a spectacular comeback at the Parc des Princes in the second tie to knock the Parisians out of the competition.

And now, the German has opened up on how he felt following this game:

“I can be very honest after that match I was two days in a very dark place and I can tell you I was not able to speak to anybody and to think about anything else [other] than this defeat,” Tuchel told reporters ahead of Sunday’s clash.

“That was maybe the worst defeat that I experienced because it came from nowhere. In the circumstances that it arrived, I was for two days in a dark place for a coach to be at.

“There is no way you can compare these two games with each other. I told you how I felt after this defeat in the Champions League. We all know that defeats are hard to digest.  Am I a good loser? So so. Maybe not so much, but show me a good loser on this level.

“I would love to turn it around. We love the competition and we love to win and we love a good fight for it, and this is what we will hopefully get on Sunday.”
