Callum Hudson-Odoi: Chelsea want teams to be scared of facing them

Chelsea vs Southampton

Chelsea are set to play host to Southampton later this afternoon.

The Blues head into the tie on the back of a rather mixed start to the campaign.

Granted, the club’s last outing did see them put Crystal Palace to the sword by four goals to nil.

But, prior to that, Chelsea had been knocked out of the League Cup, held to a 3-3 draw by a struggling West Brom side, and beaten 2-0 by Liverpool.

As for Southampton, they too have had a rather inconsistent start to the campaign.

The Saints currently sit 11th in the Premier League, having won two and lost two of their opening four league outings.

‘We want to be lethal’

Prior to the clash at Stamford Bridge, Callum Hudson-Odoi has been speaking out about how Chelsea are hoping to play.

First up, the winger is expecting an aggressive match-up later today, with Southampton aiming to get goals and be aggressive when winning the ball back.

“The way Southampton play, I think they’re going to try and get goals as well, and try to be an aggressive team to win the ball back.

Hudson-Odoi also spoke about what Chelsea will be aiming to achieve.

The Englishman stated that the Blues are looking to be a nuisance, be lethal, be ruthless and finally, be a team which every side they come up against are scared of playing:

“As for us, we want to be aggressive, score goals, win the game, whoever the other team is… just be a nuisance of a team, do you know what I mean?

“We want to be lethal, we want to be ruthless, going up and down the pitch, so that we’re clinical at one end and making sure we’re not conceding silly goals or mistakes either. We want it so every team that plays us are scared of us.”
